Penyrheol Light Operatic Society were formed in 1988. Mr Jac Jones was musical director and Mr David Thomas was director. The society was based in Penyrheol School and rehearsed and performed in the schools theatre. They performed operetta in their early days, with 'Merry Widow' as the first performance. Pat Hart started directing in 1997 ( having been a member from 1988 to 1992). In 1998 Jac retired as MD and became President. Roger Hart was appointed as MD in 1999 and this marked a move away from operetta to musicals. The society moved to Taliesin Theatre in 2004 where they remained until their final show, South Pacific in 2010
